| FreeThis FREE training is sponsored by Region 3 Behavioral Health Services, Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN), CHI Health St Francis Mission & Ministries, and the Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions (CNCAA), a longtime partner agency of the Heartland United Way and facilitated by Kay Glidden, Compassion Resiliency and Beth Reynolds, Region 3 Behavioral Health Services.
The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has found that 1 out of 4 children attending school have been exposed to a traumatic event. A child impacted by trauma may experience physical ailments, intrusive thoughts and fears, and decreased attention and concentration. Healthcare providers are increasingly recognizing the connection between adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) and later life health problems. However, ACE’s can be prevented and there is much we can do to heal existing trauma. This webinar will discuss the definition of trauma, how emotional trauma affects children, the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, trauma interventions, how to create a safe environment for children and share regulation tools for building resiliency.
